New York Knicks play ball with Cadet Hoops
Cadet Hoops and the New York Knicks are a winning team as the two organizations joined forces to bring a special Saturday afternoon of basketball to Carteret, New Jersey. “All the planning paid off,” said Cadet’s Hoops Founder/Director Brian Prioleau, “We started the preparation for this event back in November. It was just great to see all the kids and the coaches enjoying themselves so much.”
It was truly a festive atmosphere in the gym, complete with 1990’s Knicks legend Larry's Johnson, a.k.a. Grandmama, who represented his former squad at the event. The Knicks coaches ran the drills with the support of Brian and his staff. Not surprisingly, the fun-loving Johnson was the primary cheer leader today- seemingly out doing everyone with his enthusiasm. “I love getting in and mixing it up with the kids,” said LJ, who is best known for this four-point play at the Garden during a Knick playoff run. “I’m still just a big kid at heart.”
The kids ages, 8-14, were broken into skill groups and learned the fundamentals of the game. Stay tuned for another Knicks- Cadet Hoops basketball experience. The next session is in the works and the details will be announced soon.“I’m sincerely grateful for all the participants today,” said Brian. “We look forward to seeing everyone at future events.”
